Compounded tirzepatide is a medication created by licensed compounding pharmacies, customized for individual patient needs. It has the same active ingredient as the brand-name drugs Mounjaro® and Zepbound™, which are used for managing type 2 diabetes and aiding weight loss. This medication works by mimicking the GLP-1 and GIP hormones, helping to regulate insulin release, lower glucagon levels, slow stomach emptying, and reduce appetite.

What is Compounded Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide, which shares the same active ingredient as Zepbound® and Mounjaro®, works by directly activating both GIP and GLP-1 pathways. These natural hormones regulate blood sugar levels in response to food intake. By stimulating insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release, tirzepatide helps maintain blood sugar within the desired range for individuals with type 2 diabetes. Its dual action makes it an effective option for glycemic control.
